My Life as a Chain Smoker and How I Quit Smoking

How to quit smoking - Now there's a challenge!! Just how do you go about doing that? Do you need to plan it out in advance or do you just wake up one morning and decide, "This is the day; it's time to quit!"?

If you start checking among ex-smokers for a general rule of thumb, you'll come up with almost as many methods for quitting as there are ex-smokers. That in itself can be confusing, if not daunting. Almost everyone "swears by" some particular method and the method they swear by, is
usually the method that actually worked for them. While I can't recommend any particular method, since I am an ex-smoker, I feel like I have some insights that might be particularly helpful. Actually, I quit smoking a long time ago. By this point, I think it's been well over 20 years. While the memories associated with quitting may have dimmed a bit, the fact that I quit so long ago should add some credibility to my status as a confirmed non-smoker.

Quitting is a tricky business. Long after I quit, the cravings would still put in a seemingly obligatory appearance every so often. At long last, realizing I wasn't "buying," the cravings would only show up once every six months or so. Eventually the intervals between these visits became even longer (as visits often do from guests who know they're unwanted). In the end, I would only feel an occasional twinge every year or so. Now they never come around at all.
