This is a type of explanation to the Article, They’re Married with Kids and You Don’t Understand This: How cute! She Pooped! It is very easy to see how a Non- parent would not understand the things we go through as parents and why we think certain things are cute, when normally they could be down right appalling by everyone else.

As parents, we go through all sorts of things involving grotesque situations and we can smile and go on. My children have done everything from painting the walls with their own poop, peeing in the air conditioning vents, and throwing up at the kitchen table when forced to eat a green bean. Granted this is not acceptable behavior in my home, but you can’t help but laugh. I always swore I would not be one of those people who had those “evil kids” that you see in the store throwing fits and screaming. You know the ones who you would say, “If those were my kids.” I am that mom. My kids will be complete angels around other people. For some reason when they are with their mommy, they get possessed.

Being a parent is not for everyone. Their behavior can be hard to handle. As it was so well put by J. Todd Gray in his article, we would not put up with these same acts by our pets or even other people for that matter. How long would you allow a friend to stay a friend if every time they came for a visit they made a huge mess, drew on your walls or floor, or heaven forbid, crapped in your floor? It does happen; sometimes it has to involve too much alcohol. Let’s take that dog mentioned in the article, if the dog tried to get outside and peed at the door we would not be as mad, right? At least he tried to get outside. It is the same thing with children.

Parenting is a hard job. I can see that much from observing my own mom, and I respect her for what she has done (and put up with). I'm glad you took the time to write this article and better explain, however, the joys of the lesser talked about aspects of parenthood.

Fantastic article! As a mom of three I know EXACTLY what you mean. Oh and there is a lot of pooping and peeing in the floor going on in my house these days with a potty training 21 month old. LOL!
