McDonald's to Give Away Millions of Free Sandwiches

McDonald's is a name, in the United States, that is almost indistinguishable from the concept of fast food. That makes perfect sense, considering the fact that, according to a recent McDonald's press release, there are over 14,000 McDonald's restaurants throughout the nation. Now, in an effort to launch their new "Southern Style Chicken Biscuit" and "Southern Style Chicken Sandwich" the company will be offering customers free sandwiches from dawn until close on Thursday the 15th of May.

Neil Golden, the senior vice president and chief marketing officer for McDonald's, USA, commented:

By giving customers -- many of whom are unfamiliar with chicken for breakfast -- the opportunity to try the new menu items
on May 15, we anticipate 2 million Southern Style Chicken Biscuits and 6 million Southern Style Chicken Sandwiches will be
given away nationwide. With a unique blend of seasonings and ingredients that Southerners know and love, we're confident
that the new Southern Style Chicken Biscuit will change the way our customers think about chicken for breakfast, and hope
that our Southern Style Chicken Sandwich will delight even the most discerning chicken lovers.

The qualifications for the promotion are that the customer, in order to receive their free sandwich or chicken biscuit, first purchase a medium-or-larger beverage. Also, the offer is only officially good from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm, with the biscuits available during breakfast hours only, and the sandwiches available only during lunch and dinner hours.

The Southern Style Chicken Biscuit has been available for some time already in certain McDonald's markets, but this will be the company's first real push to launch the item into mainstream acceptance. This promotion also marks the first time that a major fast food chain has attempted to launch a chicken-for-breakfast item nationally and put such massive resources behind the effort.

The McDonald's press release states that it is estimated that they'll give away 2 million Southern Style Chicken Biscuits and 6 million Southern Style Chicken Sandwiches during the event.
