This world lies in uncertainty. A beautiful morning could turn into tragedy; disaster destroyed the day. Time taken for granted could be gone in an instant; we ran out of time. All that would be left are pieces of a world to be picked up again, and those, who expected to see another beautiful morning, will only remember a tragedy that changed their life.

With gentle hands, Nature could bring so much beauty and awe into this world. There are times when her hands are not so gentle. Yesterday was a sign of how cruel she could be, showing no mercy, and leaving behind complete destruction. Her loving touch lies cold over the void now before us.

Thousands of lives are gone. Their world lies in ruin. Survivors are left to heal wounds that would become scars to hold this memory in time. Who will come to their side and help them pick up the pieces left behind Nature's wrath?

The television screen splays the sight of tragedy before me, the sight of destruction. They are worlds away, but why does that matter? How cold are we if we just change the channel? If we flip through the television in search of a program to steal our minds away from reality?

We can't ignore this. The least we can do is light candles and say prayers for those lost and for those left to survive. The most we can do is send money, clothes, or supplies. We can't ignore this. What does that say about us, if we can so easily turn our backs on the world?

This world lies in uncertainty. We look forward to that beautiful morning. We enjoy spending time on life. We never see the dark cloud rising. We never realize the sand in the hourglass has disappeared. We take the world for granted, but this world lies in uncertainty. And when tragedy strikes, we need to be there for those left to survive it. We need to be there in spirit and thought, written words, or with our hands, giving them what they need to lift them back up to their feet.
