This interview centers around "A Midnight Infatuation" I have reread it for the interview and to get myself ready for the recently released "A Birth At Dawn." These two books are what Christie describes as Paranormal Romance Novels. I am a novice in the world of the paranormal. As such I am very curious! I ask all sorts of questions and am answered with the teaser, "Well you'll have to read the book about that." Yes, but I have the patience of a two year old, and I want to know now! Christie just laughs at me.
In "A Midnight Infatuation" and "A Birth At Dawn" Christie gives us Alex and Fiona. Alex is a vampire. I want to know his history but this is something Christie says I have to wait for. She does allow that some of his story comes to light in "A Birth At Dawn." We will meet his sire, the man who turned him, and in the first book Alex admits that he has a rather nasty history as a vampire though in more recent years this seems to have dissipated. He is now a handsome, sexy 30 year old man who is really 150 years old. And in love, though at times he puts his foot in it. I love how Alex, who has a heightened sense of smell, describes Fiona as smelling like a dirty dog. This just tickles me.
I ask about Fiona, who is a female werewolf. Christie explains that when she began writing she knew the story was a vampire/werewolf love story but she wasn't too sure who was who. I mention that in other discussions Christie references vampires much more than werewolves and I am curious about this. She was drawn first to vampire stories, she explains, so this makes sense. There are also more stories about vampires than there are about werewolves. Although once she is done writing the many books she is interested in that may change.
