You have recently been given the honor of serving a good friend by being their best man. Congratulations! So all you got to do is show up the date of the wedding, drink free booze, eat free food, and party with you buds right? WRONG! You have a lot of hard work ahead of you, helping your friend stay sane the months leading up to their scariest day. They aren't the only ones scared either. Not only do you have a lot of work to do helping them prepare, but you also have to prepare a Best Man Speech. They say that people's number one fear, even above death, is public speaking. So suck it up and get ready to face a fear worse than death. Here is some best man advice to help you prepare for your best man speech.

First, START NOW!
Hopefully you are reading this well in advance of the wedding. Even if the wedding is still a year off, it doesn't hurt to start writing a best man speech now. Give a killer best man speech and the happy couple will thank you for the priceless memory for the rest of their lives (or until the divorce). Give a ill-prepared best man speech and you'll be lucky if the bride lets you hang out with the groom ever again.

Starting well in advance will help you develop your ideas into something meaningful and personal. It will also give you plenty of time to practice and memorize your best man speech. Practice makes perfect. If you review your finalized speech once a day for the month leading up to the wedding, you won't be stressing out the week before trying to cram. This will let you relax and make it possible for you to both enjoy your friend's wedding and be a support to them. If you're stressing out over your best man speech, you'll stress them out too and be a bum of a best man.

Getting started:
The best way to start out is by brainstorming. You want your speech to be personal so start by making a list of your most memorable moments with your friend. If you have moments with the couple together, all the better. Be sure to make these stories personal to you. Don't include stories that you only heard about and did not witness yourself. Be careful of sharing stories that are too personal or that are embarrassing to the couple.
