Paul: the Name

I want to do another name,
With a "P" this one does start.
I do have to tell you,
It comes right from the heart.

The name of which I'm speaking,
The one that starts with "P"
Has a very special meaning,
When it comes to knowing me.

The name is Paul, its true,
That it is Rome and English Bred.
And speaks to Paul of Tarsus of the Bible,
But earthly speaking, he is dead.

You see my first name is Gary,
And the last one Davis be.
But the one that's in the middle,
Well it sounds as Paul you see.

Now in Rome there is a family name,
And that name is Paulus.
But perhaps you'd like to know more,
Without having to go through all this.

As Latin has massaged it,
Paulus has come down to Paul,
And the final destined definition,
Equals "Humble" and/or "Small"

Most know the name of Paul,
From St. Paul not from me GPD,
Course hardly fair to talk comparisons,
Since writing help for Paul was truly GODLY.

Well so much for Paulie,
he took a bullet in the head.
Wasn't that's where Old Clemenza said,
"Leave the gun take the Canoles instead!".

But Paul isn't violent,
Its emanated from the good,
And when all is said is done,
I guess my parents named me as they should.

As I've written this poetry,
It has been hard indeed'
To stay on the topic O'Paul
without my brain starting to stampede.

Because the rhyming has been so hard,
Yet I still wanted to give you the name's rank (134) in a clever way and come up with a logical way to end this poem but if I don't get off the subject of Paul right now I will be ruined as a poet, creative writer and researcher forever because my brain is bubbling and foaming; and, I'm still publishing it because of all the work I did too! Also, I wasn't able to work in the fact my middle name comes from St. Paul. That's the last name I do that isn't three letters like Ray, Fay or Sam.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take a Valium and lie down, I have a terrible headache.
