The Glenn Beck Show - My Favorite News Show on CNN

Long ago I lost interest in any of the networks for news. I think it has become clearly evident that the way the broadcasters get and convey their news has become irreparably tainted by deadline pressures from the 24/7 airing and by money. But it also, and most importantly, has been stained with the ugly growing reality of a public which doesn’t care about hard news and isn’t critical of what passes for hard news today. We, the public, obviously tune in to the sensational, the lewd, the most violent and repugnant or sensational headlines on the air. A growing number of us don’t care if it’s true or even more importantly, if it’s relevant to us and our lives. 

Anyone who has listened to nightly news for long can see that the same stories and even the same phrases used in the same stories are peddled all across the air nonstop. It’s mindless and the partisanship exhibited on our national stations is revolting. How many times did we have to hear the word “gravitas” used in connection with Dick Cheney before the 2000 elections to see that many of these illustrious “news pundits”, most of them, are simply talking heads who look pretty and spout what the AP wires or their newsroom meetings loaded them up with before showtime. They are neither admirable nor very smart, and we are depending on them for our news? 

Well, I stopped watching, as many others are in droves. Many of us who are seriously interested in the truth have cancelled our subscriptions to our daily newspapers. We just don’t care about or even believe what these dressed up “anchors” or headline “reporters” are saying any more.
