I have, over the years, benefited from a radio program. The name of the program is "Thru the Bible" and it is taught by Dr. J. Vernon McGee. While Dr. McGee has been deceased for some time, his program continues. The reason it does I am sure is because he studies the Bible verse-by-verse and he teaches it in a way that the average person can understand. Highlighted by Dr. McGee's insightful comments the program is fascinating. It started back in the seventies I believe and he goes verse-by-verse through the Bible in half-hour programs. It takes five years to complete the trip on the "Bible Bus".I study the Bible. I am hoping to obtain a Bible doctorate as well as a doctorate in history. Since I am nearly 60-years-old who knows if I have the time, but, one can dream; right?
I love writing for AC. I primarily do medical writing; however, I also do some news and have begun to do more "quirky" poetry. I love it all. Further, I have "met" so many nice people at AC that the money truly has become secondary; well, almost
There are a couple of major projects I have decided to undertake along with my other work at AC. The major one is to do a general survey of The New King James Version Bible. I may do other versions later, but, for starters, I am going to stick to one. I don't want to get into comparisons at this point.
While I perhaps have more formal training in the study of the Bible than a lot of people, I am not (and no one is) the final word on the Bible's meaning or intent. Further, I wish to say that I in no way hold myself out to be a pastor or licensed authority. (That's a disclaimer!) I wish to set up a couple simple rules.
I hope that if you are interested in Bible study you will read and come along with me as I have this adventure; please invite people you know. Always feel free to comment on what is said and, always feel free to disagree. Honest disagreements and even criticisms are fine. What I will not tolerate and will not hesitate to remove from the comments are sacrilegious or vicious remarks.
