The dread-headed American Idol contestant Jason Castro had another bad week in the Top 4. Contestants chose songs from the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, opening the door to the genre the kids have been waiting for. All of the final AI singers will now perform two songs each week, and be judged directly after each performance. Ryan Seacrest explained the process for all, and Paula, to understand.

Jason Castro's first song, I Shot The Sheriff by Bob Marley, was a slight improvement over last week. It appeared Jason C. finally realized how important a heartfelt performance is, and that he needed one desperately. Maybe too desperate, but I know for a fact that Jason has an incredible fan base that will be hard to shake.

The judging on Jason Castro's first performance went down like this:

Randy Jackson - "It was really a karaoke Bob Marley"

Paula Abdul - "I've never seen you perform more to the audience... I wasn't crazy about the song"

Simon Cowell - "That was utterly atrocious... it was like a first round audition massacre."

"What were you thinking?" Simon asked Jason.

Jason responded, "I was thinking 'it's Bob Marley', man!"

Bob Marley would not have been impressed with that performance of his song, Jason.

The second half of the night got worse for Jason Castro. He chose Bob Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man, it started out like a bad Bob Dylan impression and then he forgot the words. Not only did Jason forget a couple of words, he lost most of the middle verse and sort of hummed and babbled through it. I guess I have to give him some credit for not starting over, ala Brooke White. There was really little he could do at the end of the song but hang his head and wait for the deserved beat down.

The judging went down like this:

Randy Jackson - "How did you think it was?"
Jason Castro - "I lost some lines in there... that isn't good"
Randy Jackson - " I don' t know what's going on with you"

Paula Abdul - "Obviously you didn't blow us away with the song, but you are in your genre"

Simon Cowell - "Jason, pack your bags"

"I Shot the Sheriff" is one of my all time favorite songs. I hate seeing it butchered. Nice job!

He was horrible. I haven't seen the show much this year. I have yet to be impressed by him.
