Proactiv and Murad Acne Treatments

Why Stick with a Single Product when You Can Use Both to Double the Effectiveness?

Despite the fact that there seems to be a plethora of acne products that solely target teenage acne, there are actually quite a number of products that are aimed at adult acne as well. The two that I recommend the most are
Proactiv Solution 3-Step System in the extra strength formula and Murad Acne Complex Kit. This recommendation comes from many years of trying out various products from different brands, ranging from over-the-counter products from drug stores and department stores, and prescription medications. None of them seemed to get me the results I wanted - even after using Proactiv for over 4 years. It was not until Proactiv came out with their extra strength formula, consisting of 7% benzoyl peroxide as the active ingredient, that I actually saw continuing results of less acne. Unfortunately though, that was not enough for someone who suffers from oily skin and severe acne. What made the difference was using the Murad Acne Complex Kit simultaneously.

Haven't you ever heard the saying that your skin/hair/body will get used to the same products and will no longer become effective if you use only one kind for years? Well if you haven't, there you go. It's true. It appeared for a while that my skin became used to Proactiv and consequently lost the effect of clearing my acne, since I used it for over 4 years. My skin seemed to get used to the 2.5% benzoyl peroxide that the normal formula of Proactiv contained and my pimples appeared to have gotten immune to that medication. But the extra strength formula that I had started to use about 6 months ago gave my pimples a wake up call and the more potent 7% formula immediately began to clear my skin. And to make sure they do not get use to the extra strength Proactiv as they did with the regular Proactiv formula, I began using Murad Acne Complex Kit as well. Murad Acne Complex Kit contains salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and retinol to effectively treat acne. Hence the combination of active ingredients found in these two separate product lines allows my skin to get the benefits of the most effective ingredients that treat acne.

I thought this too. I used proactiv years ago and it worked great. I got on the system recently and I am having more breakouts then I ever had in my life and I use the system day and night. I figured they must have changed their formula. Now I have to go to a dermatologist.

I bought Proactiv in July 2008. Used it once a day as my acne wasn't all that bad, but enough to make my face feel like braille. Small pimples on my forehead and cheek bones. After the first treatment I noticed a significant change, my face felt smoother already. It's now September and it stopped working. I even tried using it twice a day and my face is back to the way it was. I haven't even finished the first bottles I bought! Not Impressed!!!

Oops! So now I do what the author of the article does--I used Proactiv at bedtime and Murad during the day. I can't say my skin isamazing, but it looks pretty good. I'd also like to add that I've tried other benzoyl peroxide products, but Proactiv is better--it makes the skin silky, not dried out. You can buy a 3-piece travel kit on QVC for $15, so it is worth a try.

I've suffered with acne for over 30 years, and have tried so many prescription and non-prescription products, with varying degrees of success. I started using the Murad Complex kit and literally within 5 days my skin was totally clear! I couldn't believe it. I didn't get a single breakout for a year and a half, then the acne started to come back :( I switched to Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment, which has a higher level of salicyclic acid than Murad--and again, a totally clear complexion! It just recently stopped working, and I bought ProActiv. Tried it for about 10 days, and it did nothing for me, so I passed it on to my teen daughter. She had a slight improvement, but nothing fabulous. But she kept using it, and by the end of the second month her skin was gorgeousand clear! I had to try again! By the third week or so there was a big improvement in my complexion, but unfortunately when I'd wear it during the day, my eyes would get itchy. So now I do what the aut

I don't have severe acne but i do have persistant pimples that always come back. I'm washing my face every night and using a controlling lotion that isn't working, and I'm trying Proactive. I was wondering if anyone else has tried it and can give me any pointers because i don't want to waste money if it's not going to work....

ok you know what I found out that pissed me off? Jessica Simpson talks about proactive like it was here miracle cure, she tells millions of poor acne sufferers that this mediocre (at best) product is like the answer to all thier pain and prayers, well come to find out her dumb ass took ACCUTANE while she was using proactiv and thats what really cleared her skin not proactiv at all!

Just in case it helps someone else, I used Proactiv for a few years and friends would tell me that my skin always looked pink or red-irritated. I started using Olays Total Effects products for acne and I am thrilled with the way my face looks. It is extremely clear and the product is very gentle on my skin. I have not had blemishes since I started their product and my skin tone is awesome.

This is great! I have been a Proactiv user for over a year now, and just in the past 2 months the acne has been back. I think I will try this skin care method. I hope the treatment works well.
