Did David Cook's song choices leave the audience hungry for more or do you feel less than satiated after his American Idol performance last night? David Cook will continue to next week, but he may have dropped a spot.

David Cook made some interesting, yet a bit odd song choices on American Idol's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame night. While I like both of the songs he chose, he did not add his usual David Cook spice to the mix. I also wonder if voting American Idol appreciated his song choices, which may seem to "old" or "Retro" for some viewers.

David Cook "Hungry Like the Wolf"

While Paula Abdul seemed to like David Cook's "Hungry Like the Wolf," I found it an odd song choice on American Idol . I like David Cook, and I am a not-so-closeted fan of '80s music. I also have always enjoyed the music of Duran Duran, since they were a big '80s band, and I grew up during the '80s.

"Hungry Like the Wolf" is not exactly a song that people may think of when they think of rock and roll. The song is very pop, and very '80s. The song has retro appeal, but for some that may not be enough.

David Cook obviously understands and "gets" the '80s thing, and the Retro take, but do the fans? Did he take a mis-step by not adding a more contemporary element to the song?

David Cook "Baba O'Riley"

David Cook trekked on with The Who's "Baba O'Riley." It was a good, rockin' and entertaining song. He again showed that he can make a song contemporary, which he did not quite pull off with "Hungry Like the Wolf."

David vs. David?

In this regard, David Cook maintains that one component that David Archuelta does not seem to have. I can imagine seeing David Cook in a video, and I can imagine turning on the radio and hearing him sing.

While David Archuelta outsang everyone last night on American Idol, including David Cook, David Cook may better fit the commercial appeal of contemporary music. David Cook should stick around another week, to battle it out with Syesha and David.

I kept wondering if David Cook became a little too confident with all the buzz about him winning American Idol. He was not on his game last night.

I agree 100%. It hurt him but I think he's still safe for the top three.
