American Idol's Jason Castro: Can Dreadlocks Pull Jason Past a Dreadful Set of Performances?

Jason Castro must be praying that his Dreadlocks pull him through the the final three. He certainly cannot be counting on votes for either of the two dreadful performances he gave on Tuesday night. Somehow it seems that now that he is able to go on the tour Jason just as interested in

the effort it takes to put out a good performance for his fans. That surely was the reason he could not even remember the lines to Bob Dylan's famous and well known Tambourine Man.

The first song that Jason attempted to sing was the Bob Marley song; "I Shot the Sherrif". He sang with such lack of enthusiasm that many viewers agree with what Simon offered after the song. Had Jason sang that song in his first audition he would never have made it to Hollywood, let alone the top ten of American Idol this year, 2008. Fortunately the song was so poorly presented that no controversy over the selection of the song - in a month that has brought killings of police in several US cities.

The second song, Tambourine Man was better than the first but again the total lack of enthusiam that Jason now has for the Idol process overshadowed any singing ability he may have once shown. Surely this rendition of the iconic 60's classic will not even be remembered as a successful cover of the song which, released around the same time as the album of the same name topped the charts. The album and the single brought the folk-rock sound into mainstream American consciousness. Hopefully Jason's rendition will fade from consciousness by the end of this week.

If Jason pulls through to the top three it will most likely be at the expense of Syesha Mercado. She had a winning performance in her first song. The second song while appreciated by Simon and Paula was not as HOT as Randy Jackson would have liked. One wonders if the fan base that loves Jason's Dreadlockes is larger than those that appreciate the powerful voice Syesha has.
