At random times recently near the California/Mexican border, law enforcement officials have stepped up the program of arresting illegal immigration in a new way. Activists and pro-immigration groups may criticize, but these raids serve a purpose and deliver results. The expenditure of time and money for these raids may prove more efficient than the fences government organizations have spent billions on thus far.

Along the Tijuana-San Diego border, now U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers have been setting up checkpoints, boarding buses destined for Mexico and pulling off people who don't have proper documentation. While those with no criminal history and proper documentation are released after processing, checkpoints operate to catch illegal immigrants transiting borders with illegal goods, stolen items, weapons, cash for money laundering, and evading capture or prosecution.

1. Health Screenings

Illegal immigrants evade basic health requirements and operate lives almost entirely without proper health training and regular checkups and care. Health records for illegal immigrants are not formally kept and unless regular entry and exit records indicate which illegal immigrants are carrying diseases from native areas in Mexico and beyond, medical organizations will have no idea how to safeguard public health.

This endangers not only the health of populations in Southern California but the residents of the entire United States. Public health authorities have a right to know what diseases illegal aliens are bringing into the country. The population of illegal immigrants is not stopped from walking into hospitals and demanding medical attention. But a medical or parasitic outbreak could damage or completely obliterate healthcare resources and facilities in weeks.

Takeaways
  • Illegal immigrants traveling without proper documents will be detained.
  • Money laundering South of the border just got more difficult.
  • Stolen and smuggled goods may be detected and return to U.S. citizens with these raids.
Did You Know?
Illegal immigrants who work illegally in the United States may be raided while on the way "home" for the weekend. Fake papers and phony driver's licenses may be confiscated.
