Working from Home, a Scam or Not?

While many people dream from working from home there are some things to research before you make your decision. And when I say work from home I am specifically talking about Becoming and independent contractor to work for a company or a work from home employee, not starting your own business.

The very first thing you might think is scam. That is rightfully so, there are an endless supply of offers that will end up to be a scam. But there are also maybe legit work at home jobs as well that might get pegged as slam or have slander about them on one forum or another. So how do you know whats a scam and whats not?

This will come with experience, making mistakes and learning from them. But Hopefully you can avoid some of the pitfalls that have lost some of us money time and causes stress. The first rule of trying to decide whats a scam and whats legit is do they charge a fee? Work from home jobs are jobs. Lets say u go apply for a job at the local factory, they aren't going to charge you a fee and neither should a job you work from home.

The only costs you will come across is the need for some equipment. For transcription you may need a foot peddle, and for some telecommunications jobs You might encounter a fee for a back ground check. These are legit costs. Think about it this way, if u were a plumber you would be expected to bring your own tools. Any fee out side of this is screaming scam! Don't give in on the sudden urge to think you have found an easy way to make money with little work!

The next thing you want to do is research the business itself, look them up with the Better Business Beauru. Look at all the links find the company name, and do a search to see what others are saying about this company. This does take some time and effort but it could save you time and money too. If you are feeling like you cant be bothered to do that research then working from home might not be for you. This is not the only time you will have to push yourself to go above and beyond.
