Great ATV Choices for Young Riders
So you have decided that you want to get an ATV for your child. From name brands such as Polaris and Yamaha to the cheaper E-ton, you have many choices available to you when it comes to purchasing an ATV for your child. These are just a brief overview of a few of the choices available to
you.
The Polaris Outlaw 50 is a great ATV for your young child to start out riding on. Polaris has a minimum age recommendation of 6 years old for this ATV and has many safety features included. The adjustable foot well height insures that your child will always be able to have their feet safe and secure on the foot well. The Polaris Outlaw 80 ATV also includes an orange safety flag that helps keep your youngest visible while they are riding, a DOT approved helmet, and a safety tether. The Polaris Outlaw 50 ATV is available in red or pink for those budding young female riders.
The Yamaha Raptor 50 is another great choice for young ATV riders. My youngest son has one of these and it is a great ATV. Yamaha recommends a minimum age of 6 years old for this ATV. It has a throttle control screw, which allows you to adjust the amount of throttle (gas) that your child can give it. This is a great feature on flat areas but may cause some issues when coming up hills. It comes with the safety tether so that parents can walk or run behind their young rider and stop them if necessary. One pull on the tether and it kills the motor.
The E-ton Viper 50 makes for a great starter ATV for your child. The E-ton Viper 50 ATV is equipped with many great safety features such as a remote starter and kill switch, which allow you to start or shut off the ATV from up to about 20 feet away. For speed control, the Viper has an adjustable CDI and an adjustable throttle control. It has the wrist safety tether so that if they fall off the ATV will shut down. The E-ton Viper 50 is a bit cheaper than the Polaris and Yamaha.
