Are you a handmade jewelry designer who's tired of the craft show circuit? Carefully chosen crafts shows can be an excellent way to sell handcrafted jewelry, but attending these shows can be expensive and time consuming. What if there was an easier way to reach an enthusiastic audience for your handmade items? There are hundreds of women working in office buildings in your area who have little free time to shop but need unique, stylish jewelry to wear to work each day. Instead of transporting your jewelry and display to craft shows every weekend, why not sell your handcrafted jewelry through offices in your area? If you work an office job in addition to your jewelry design business, you may be able to sell your jewelry at work. If you choose to do this, be sure you understand the rules and do it in a low key fashion. You don't want to alienate your fellow office workers by being a high power salesperson. Start by wearing some of your most eye catching, handmade pieces. When someone in your office compliments one of your designs, let her know you design handcrafted jewelry and can make custom handmade jewelry as well as remake the item you're wearing. Keep a small case at work with samples of your designs that you can show to interested parties during the lunch hour. Bring lots of business cards with you and give each person two, one for themselves and one for a friend. Let them know if they refer a friend to you, they will receive a small gift such as a free pair of earrings.
To reach women in other office buildings, make a list of friends who work in office settings with lots of fashion conscious women. Contact them and ask them to you're your handcrafted jewelry to work and take orders. For each order that they bring you, offer to give them a small commission or a free pair of earrings. Most women would love the opportunity to wear free jewelry and make some money when they sell it. This is an easy way to sell handcrafted jewelry since you don't have to be present and you have the opportunity to leverage your efforts by finding more friends to sell your jewelry designs.
