Thank You, President Bush

Thanks for Keeping America Safe from Terrorism

Thank you, President Bush. I know those are words you aren't used to hearing lately. You are probably more used to being called a liar about the war in Iraq. You are probably more used to being blamed for every problem imaginable in the country, from the war, the rising cost of gas,
problems in the real estate market and too many others to name. You are used to people saying they hate you (when hate is a destructive, useless and wasteful emotion and does no good in the political arena, or life in general-whether directed toward you or liberals like Ted Kennedy or Hillary Clinton.)

I want to say before you leave office, however, that I thank you President Bush that during your term there has not been a second 9/11 (at least partially I believe because of things you have done), and integrity and honesty have been restored to the Oval Office, after eight years before you in which the occupants did not even know the meaning of the words. I thank you that we have someone who respects life from birth to death, and even though we have some problems now, the economy was not that bad for most of your term.

That does not mean I think everything you have done is perfect. You are far too willing to grant citizenship and amnesty to illegal immigrants, and you are just wrong. Our country has always been a country of immigrants and always should be. It's just that it should always be done only legally. In my area of the country recently we had a large number of immigrants that became American citizens, but they did it legally. We should never seek to reward those who do otherwise.

Well, I agree with you one one thing: Although he was not much of a President, Jimmy Carter did have integrity. As far as mounting evidence, our intelligence may have been wrong, but Democrats and Republicans both voted to support Bush on Iraq, and Clinton, even though he may have not done much himself, did say, when he was President that something had to be done. I still emphasize: Bush did keep our country safe after 9/11 (That is no minor issue.), and I question that someone like Obama, who wants to meet with the President Iran without preconditions will. I can only hope so. As far as what others thing of us, including Islamic countries, while I do not want to deliberately antogonize any country, keeping America safe is more important that getting everyone to like us.

Talking about God a lot and refusing to reconsider bad decisions in light of mounting statistical evidence and expert advice are not badges of integrity. Thank you Bush for tarnishing our image in foreign countries and turning even moderate Muslims towards militancy. Mike I will take a liar who knows what he's doing (Clinton) over an honest fool any day of the week. Hell, Jimmy Carter had integrity.
