The C. S. Lewis Space Trilogy

The C. S. Lewis Space Trilogy is a Fantastic Sci-fi Banquet

Clive Staples Lewis is famous for his seven book series for children, "The Chronicles of Narnia", and his many other non-fiction books on Christianity and theology.

But if you search through the impressive catalog of C.S. Lewis' works, you will find a trilogy that stands apart, a brilliant science fiction series that adults who love the works of Alan Dean Foster and Isaac Asimov would devour with
 glee.

The first book in the trilogy, "Out of the Silent Planet", is the story of a man who is kidnapped and transported to a planet inhabited by creatures that are astounding. Lewis imagination shines through in the descriptions of the alien beings, so different from the creatures we have all become used to from most science fiction authors. So unique, it seems impossible that anyone would have thought of them, and they make you wonder if perhaps Lewis himself was transported to this other world.

The main character finds himself in a battle to protect the inhabitants of the planet from the greed and evil of the other men who took him there against his will. Lewis keeps you turning the pages with constant danger and twists that will surprise and amuse you. Even his description of the spaceship is so clever that one tends to think, "that makes so much sense I believe it would actually work!"

Be sure and buy all three books before you start reading "Out of the Silent Planet", because the moment you finish the first, you're going to want to crack the cover open on the second, "Perelandra".

"Perelandra" begins with a scene that seems to mimic a Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson conversation, but quickly transports the main character, and the reader, to yet another world. This time, it's a recently formed and pristine water planet, with descriptions of new life and an ecology that will have you dreaming of the ocean. The danger and suspense is almost immediate as the story kicks into gear and the protagonist once again battles to save an innocent world with its first sentient couple from the invasion of evil.

Fantastic books! I haven't read them in ages, though.

Anyone know anyone in Hollywood? Maybe we should start an email-writing campaign? CS Lewis wrote enough to make a dozen new movies, easily.
