This is in response to the article “Ned Lamont Should Introduce Himself”

Let me say this: the campaign for mid-term elections has been both the nastiest and unfair to date. Three of the worst battles are in the Constitution state, Connecticut. Each of these seats, two in the House of Representatives, one for the senate are truly up for grabs. It’s a dog eat dog world and in Connecticut those dogs are huge.

Just this afternoon I went to my mailbox to retrieve the useless store circular and offers for various credit cards. In it were two postcards from the Republican National Committee. I assume, that because I am a registered democrat (in a matter of full disclosure) that these were sent to tall registered voters in town.

The postcards bad-mouthed Diane Farrell, running for a 4th district representative seat against long-time incumbent Christopher Shays. The attacks used an unflattering picture of the challenger and proceeded to talk about how she raised taxes in Westport and voted for a pay raise. (Blah blah) Then I got another card attacking Shays, and they always contain the line “a vote for Shays is a vote for the Bush agenda.” It’s amazing to me. When Clinton was in office I don’t remember any ads of “A Vote for {insert name here} is a vote for the Clinton agenda.” Now don’t go calling me a Clinton Lover and Bush Hater-it is just a general observation. People seemed to be happier and more comfortable financially with Clinton. His public approval ratings were always high-so why would you want to use that as a smear tactic.
