Scrubs - My Princess

More reviews like this can be found on my blog - http://ireviewtv.blogspot.com/For the past few seasons, Scrubs has been one of the shakiest, most hit-or-miss shows on television. And despite a streak of good episodes the last few weeks, the show managed to bungle it's final episode on NBC in a variety of different ways with season 7's finale.
You may recall an ongoing arc in the last few episodes regarding Bob Kelso's position as Chief of Medicine at Sacred Heart. You may recall him deciding to retire two weeks ago and Dr. Cox taking over as Chief last week. But apparently the show doesn't recall any of that because in this week's episode, Kelso is back in charge with no explanation at all. Whether this happened by pure mistake, doubtful, or because of episodes airing out of order, more likely, it is inexcusable to have such a glaring continuity error.
Another major problem with this episode is the JD/Elliot relationship. I thought the whole almost-kiss situation that ended season 6 got nipped in the bud at the beginning of season 7. But apparently not. Apparently we needed an additional episode to tell us that the situation meant nothing to either one of them. At this point, I don't really care at all whether or not anything happens between the two of them.
And finally, the whole fairy tale portion of the episode was uninteresting and uninspired. In fact, it was downright lame. None of the jokes during the tale were very funny and the connection made between the tale and the real-life medical problem was weak. And the resolution to the problem seemed so convenient that the writer's had to be feeling lazy when they wrote it.
Overall, while this episode did have a few, sparse funny moments, I won't ruin them, it was a very disappointing finale and the worst episode of the season, if not the series as a whole.
