The Wii balance board is to be used with the Nintendo Wii gaming system. The balance board is an all-in-one gym that takes up the size of a bathroom scale. It can calculate your weight, BMI, and much more. There are many sensors located within it. The board is an off white color and is about the length of a skateboard. Games like Wii Fit, We Ski, and many others in development will make use of this game controller. Players can take part in over 40 activities on Wii Fit that are based in either aerobics, yoga, strength training, or balancing. They will do all of this while using the balance board. Before buying one, there are a few things to keep in mind when buying the Wii balance board to decide if it's right for you.

Weight Limit. The Wii balance board Japanese packaging lists the weight limit of the balance board at 300 pounds. But according to Wikipedia(take if for what it's worth), the actual weight is 330 pounds and is listed as 300 pounds because of regulations. Still, it might be best to use the 300 pounds as the weight limit.

Battery Power. The balance board is wireless and operates on four AA batteries that should be good for up to 60 hours. Just like the Wiimote, NYKO has developed a rechargeable battery pack for the Wii balance board.

Playing Surface. It is recommended that the balance board be placed on a hard surface or very thin carpet. If you have shaggy carpet, then the readings from the board are less likely to be accurate. The balance board isn't like regular exercise balance boards as it is stable and doesn't move during gameplay.

Price. Right now the Wii balance board comes bundled with Wii Fit and retails for $89.99.

Early reviews of the Wii balance board have been pretty positive. There are over ten video games being developed that will make use of the Wii balance board. Ubisoft has announced that an upcoming rabbid(Rayman's Raving Rabbids) will use the Wii balance board. Mini-games in Don King Presents: Prizefighter will use the balance board. Electronic Arts has thrown their support behind the balance board as well as several other game developers.
