Our first stop is at Churchill downs. We've been before but never for live racing or simulcasting. The last time we went by Churchill we stopped on a "dark" day, meaning there was no live racing. Unfortunately, during their live meets they are usually dark on Mondays and Tuesdays. But this was a Saturday. And we were raring to go. Louisville is on Eastern time so we needed to hurry.
We found our way to Churchill and tried to find a space to park. Unfortunately, we did find a place to park. I say that because the lady who sold our parking spot said it was ten dollars. Okay, fine, we've got an 11 month old so it's not the end of the world right? We'll fork it over and be close to the track. Makes sense. She also said she could give me a cheat sheet for a dollar with horses that could finish well. Okay, that makes sense, too.
The same lady then asked us if we want to buy box seats for 5 dollars apiece on the third level. We ask if we can get our baby stroller up to the third level. She says "Oh, yes, just take the elevator up there."
She's eating a pizza as my wife and I debate whether or not to buy these tickets when general admission is 3 bucks apiece. We decide to go ahead and do it. Even though we're out of 21 dollars before we even step inside the building.
