The world is infatuated with Cheaters. No, not real cheaters. Well, sort of. I am actually referring to the reality television show, “Cheaters.” In Atlanta, this show airs Monday through Friday, from 3pm to 3:30pm, and at 10pm on Saturdays. Hosted by the infamous Joey Greco, “Cheaters” has been on the air for a good while. It seems that its simple premise would have caused this show to tank a long time ago. But with the craze of reality TV in full swing, this sleazy television program has found its niche. Associated Content producer Angela Coleman discusses this show is explicit detail her article, “Reality TV Show Review: Cheaters.” I am proud to confess that I have been a semi-faithful viewer of this program since it’s been on the air.  And as I prod the recesses of my brain for the reasons why, I have come up with a few conclusions as to why this show infatuates so many viewers like myself.

WE’RE VOYEURS.

The 1993 movie flop, “Sliver,” starring Sharon Stone is a prime example. The movie focused primarily on the building’s owner’s ability to see the goings-on inside the apartments in the high rise. While the film may have failed miserably at the box office, a grand epiphany was revealed: People love to watch other people. Face it, America is nothing but a huge group of Peeping Toms. That is why reality TV in general has become so popular. So when a TV show came along which revealed the most intimate secrets involving couples, of course everyone tuned in. Furthermore, America especially enjoys watching the ill-fated results of a romance gone sour. And that is where “Cheaters” comes in. Soap operas couldn’t get steamier than the stuff we’re seeing on reality television. Watching the Cheater being busted in the hot tub with the Pizza Guy, is much more entertaining than seeing a long drawn out affair on The Young and the Restless.

I think the host of that show looks like a psycho.
