Today I will teach you how to make dark and scary clouds in Photoshop. You can use this method in Photoshop version 6.0 and above.

The first step is to open a new, blank document. You can make it any size you choose. Now once you have your blank document open, make sure you set the background to white. At this stage make you foreground color white and set your background color to black. Or you can just hit the D key on your keyboard, this will set your colors to default mode. Now once you have this setup, choose the gradient tool from the tool bar. Take the gradient tool and drag is across the screen from left to right. Once you have done this, make sure you don't drag to much. But you can adjust how you want your clouds to look later. This method of creating dark clouds is very simple and very effective.

The next step would be to go the the Filter Menu. So you got the Filter then Render, then click on Clouds under the Render menu. Now you will notice your clouds appear in black and white. This is the basic layout for the whole project. Now you can also adjust the levels by pressing Control L on your keyboard to make the levels of light look lighter or darker. Another thing you can do is type Control U on your keyboard and adjust the brightness of the different shades of color in your clouds. You can also add color to your clouds if you desire.

If you want to change the look of you clouds you can simply draw another gradient with the gradient tool, and adjust the size of the clouds and repeat all the steps I posted in this article. This method of making dark cloud useful if you are into illustration for books or comic books. The final product of the dark clouds look really good and creepy. So that's about it once you have the clouds looking exactly how you want them you just save and then you use this as a background to a book page, or even make it a comic book cover back etc. One thing I always use these cool dark clouds as was a desktop background for my computer. But whatever you choose to use it for have fun! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial, and have a wonderful day.
