It’s almost Halloween, and there is this electricity in the air.  All of the children are running around, with dreams of what creature they are going to become on that one night - but foremost, they are dreaming about the candy in which they will devour over the next few weeks.  Halloween is by far my favorite holiday out of the year.  There is something very magical and even mystical about the latter part of October.  Everyone’s expecting something paranormal and ghostly, but what they get is a cheap imitation of what is really out there.  However, this feeling of wanting to discover the ghostly and spiritual side of our physical world stays with me throughout the entire year.  But, the only problem is, haunted houses and such aren’t operated year-round.  But, what about real haunted houses?  Surely the ghosts who inhabit them aren’t on a yearly schedule.

I have lived in St. Louis for nearly two years upon writing this, and since then I have heard many things about the history of this very eclectic city.  All of which have really surprised me.  I always knew that St. Louis was interesting, however, I never even imagined the extent of its history.  There have been some very gruesome and equally interesting happenings that have happened within the county limits of St. Louis.  One of the most interesting things that I have found out about St. Louis is that the entire city was built upon a very ornate and complex system of natural underground caves.  And most of these caves were said to be extremely haunted.  However, through time, the main channels have been shut off to the public.  As I continued reading about the Caves of St. Louis, I was entertained to find out that these supposedly haunted underground tunnels were used by beer manufacturers to keep their beer chilled, and to this day, if you find yourself in one of these caves, you will still find barrels where the beer was fermented and stored.
