Might of the Mind
"Do Not Cast Away Your Confidence, Which Has Great Reward" (Hebrews 10:35)
Too many people go through life with helpless mentalities filled with fears, doubts, and self-pity that lead to unfulfilled potentials. The weak mind-sets of humanity are portrayed with statements of faulty thinking: "I don't work hard in school because my friends wouldn't accept me," "I don't need to further my education because my parents didn't and got by," "I might as well quit my job because I'll never satisfy my boss," "I've stopped dreaming of having my own business because my family says it's impossible for me," or "I won't open a savings account because I'll never save enough to buy anything big." Another example of negative thinking is with statements of fear: "Even though I'm qualified, I won't take the job because I fear public speaking," "I won't travel abroad because I fear the plane will crash," "I can't leave my abusive relationship because I fear that I won't make it on my own," or "If I don't starve myself, I won't make it as a model." These attitudes lead to poverty, anxiety, depression, obsessions, addictions, crime, and death.
