Celebrate Graduation, the Earth, with Green Alternatives to Caps and Gowns
You've finally finished school; congratulations on getting ready to graduate at long last!
Now it is hip, trendy and most important to be "green." I am ecstatic that this is taking on such popularity so maybe we will actually save the environment! It is crucial that we act now instead of just "talking" about acting. A lot of companies are using alternative ways to help save the
environment we live in. Some companies are being borne under this organically green idea.
I have some ideas to share on ways your school or college could have a green graduation.
Instead of the traditional gowns and caps with tassels, how about wearing t-shirts and baseball caps? After all, once graduation is over do you really wear your graduation gown and cap again? I know I didn't! Wearing something once is not very environmental-friendly.
I thought a neat idea would be to use the school colors for the t-shirts and baseball caps. For example, if your school colors are blue and gold, buy blue and yellow t-shirts and caps. We all wear t-shirts and baseball caps more than once!
Have the male students wear the blue t-shirts and caps. Have the female students wear the yellow t-shirts and caps.
By wearing the school colors you will still be showing the proud school spirit and look neat and uniform for the special graduation ceremony you've worked so hard to achieve to attend.
Either have your school name and year you are graduating embroidered in the upper right hand corner or a designed iron-on placed on your t-shirt and the front of the baseball cap. Use either one depending on how much money each person would like to spend.
Now have fabric markers on hand which are specifically made for material and will not wash off in the laundry. You can buy a pack of five for $9.99 at Wal-Mart. The markers come in primary colors or neon colors.
Now students can have their friends and favorite teachers autograph their t-shirts and baseball caps if they wish! Something to treasure and be proud to wear.
