Dove Dark Chocolate Tablet Bar: A Review

Dove® is a special treat for chocoholics as they save it for just the right moment. In my view, Dove® should not be shared unless you buy two bars of chocolate. Try Dove® Dark Chocolate Tablet Bar when no other chocolate will do to satisfy your chocolate craving.

While visiting my local Big Lots in Yuba City recently, I came across Dove® Dark Chocolate Tablet Bar for just $1.00 for a 100.1g (3.53g) bar. At such an affordable price I could not resist buying a bar. After sampling plenty of varieties of milk chocolate lately, I liked the idea of switching to dark chocolate before I went off chocolate altogether.

Taste

I have not had any dove chocolate in quite some time, so I had forgotten how creamy and soft this variety of chocolate is. When I got home, I waited until I had finished my dinner before sampling Dove® Dark Chocolate Tablet Bar. The chocolate literally melted in my mouth. It was smooth and velvety but without the bitter aftertaste that some varieties of dark chocolate have. That is what impressed me the most about Dove® Dark Chocolate Tablet Bar.

Nutrition

Each 1/3 of the bar is a serving size with 3 servings in every bar. There are 170 calories in every serving, as well as 6g saturated fat, 5g cholesterol, no sodium, 20g carbohydrates, 3g dietary fibre, 15g sugar and 2g protein. From the nutrition information, we can see that this is not a low-fat or calorie food. So if you are watching your weight, then you will need to limit the amount of chocolate you consume. But it does contain 3g of fibre and 2g of protein. This product is also kosher.

Allergy Warning

Dove® Dark Chocolate Tablet Bar contains a warning that it may contain peanuts and almonds. So although this chocolate bar is plain, nut allergy sufferers will need to exercise caution when buying this chocolate bar.

Recommendation

I enjoyed the taste of Dove® Dark Chocolate Tablet Bar. It satisfied by sweet craving and the chocolate was well priced. I would highly recommend it if you have not yet tried this product and you are looking for dark chocolate that does not leave an unpleasant bitter aftertaste in your mouth.
