For a week or two, there were constant promos during Nick Jr. for the Go, Diego, Go! episode, "It's a Bug's World." The episode made its debut on Monday, May 12 at 9:30 a.m. EDT/PDT.

The story begins with Diego and a friend of his getting ready to participate in a whirligig beetle dance contest. They are supposed to go into a hole at the bottom of a tree, and Diego mentions to the audience that they're probably wondering how they will get small enough to go into the hole. Diego's friend takes out a magic flute and begins to play it. When the flute and the audience sing the word, "shrink," Diego and his friend shrink down to a small enough size to go into the hole.

When they reach the whirligig beetles, it's discovered that Benito's dance partner, Bethy, is missing. Diego has the audience use Click the Camera to find Bethy. When she is found, it is discovered that she has injured her wing and is unable to fly back to the hole. Diego goes out to save Bethy, and is able to reach her by riding on the back of a butterfly. As they head back to the hole, Diego must help Bethy music run away from an anteater, save Bethy from being eaten by a frog, help Bethy across a big and muddy road, and save Bethy after she becomes stuck on a spider web. Can Diego and Bethy make it back to the contest in time, so Bethy can dance with Benito?

At first, I was kind of rolling my eyes at the shrinking by the magic flute. But then, I had to remind myself that this is the same show that has a rescue pack that can change into just about anything that Diego needs. My husband and I found the concept behind Rescue Pack so ridiculous that we have nicknamed Rescue Pack as "Deus Ex Machina." Also, while watching this episode, I thought it was rather frustrating that Bethy the whirligig beetle didn't come up with any ideas on how to help out on her own; either Diego came up with the ideas, or Diego asked the kids for ideas.
