Dandy Donuts: A Tasty Treat in Norwich

A One-Man Operation to a Chain

In the late 1990's, those seeking all natural donuts had few choices but an elderly man opened up a shop in Norwich next to a pizza house catering to those desires.

He called his shop "Dandy Donuts" and made a variety of donuts as well as cinnamon rolls.

His shop was small and had no tables and his family assisted him with the
 baking.

You could watch as fresh donuts and cinnamon rolls came out of the oven and smell their goodness.

In 1998, Aladin Associates Limited Partnership purchased Dandy Donuts and added this shop to convenience stores throughout Connecticut.

Most Dandy Donuts are 24 hour shops and provides a breathtaking alternative to Dunkin' Donuts especially regarding its sweet cinnamon rolls which are so tasty.

Those who work at Dandy Donuts tend to be friendlier and quicker than those who traditionally work at Dunkin' Donuts.
Their beverage assortment includes a variety of iced and hot coffees, a tasty icy treat with ice cream in it, and fruit smoothies.
These donuts, donut holes, cinnamon rolls, and bagels are still all-natural without the artifical additives its competition uses.
Their baked goods are always fresh.

Locations of Dandy Donuts are conveniently next to gas stations such as Mobil and Hess located along Interstate 395, Interstate 95, and Route 2.

They are located in Branford, Guilford, Lisbon, Norwich, Old Saybrook, Mystic, Uncasville, Voluntown, and two in Willimantic.
Most of these locations do not have tables and chairs but a few do.

Several of these locations have drive thru windows making it even easier to get their tasty treats.

Banners in the windows of these locations appeal to those purchasing gas and entice them to treat themselves to a variety of promotions, many seasonally based.

"The Six After Six" promotion allows one to get six free doughnuts with the purchase of six dougnuts after 6 p.m.

Another promotion makes it easier for drivers to enjoy their tasty treat on the road.

The "Handy Dandy" features donut holes in plastic iced coffee containers in two sizes.
