According to Obama There Are 57 States, but He is Not Alone in Political Mistakes
Breaking news! Obama has now visited 57 states in the U.S., yes you heard that right 57! Barak Obama's slip has the tongue of news stations across the United States wagging. During a speech in Oregon
Obama mentioned the states he has already visited on the Campaign trail. Hawaii and Alaska were excluded because his campaign managers said no, however he has gone to "57" and will be visiting one more, according to the Los Angeles Times. The man would like to be president of the United States, however he simply doesn't seem to know off-hand how many states we currently have as part of the union.
We can call the mistake a typo on his speech sheet or a mistake made out of sheer exhaustion, it can be forgiven, especially since Obama is not the first one to make himself look bad with a mistake on the air in fact he is in rather good company.
President Clinton was a great talker when someone else prepared his statements, however Clinton was caught alone one day when questioned about the sexual propositioning of Kathleen Willey. According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, he had proof he didn't do it he would "never approach a small-breasted woman!"
Dan Quayle was once quoted as saying "Desert Storm was a stirring victory for the forces of aggression and lawlessness." See how big a difference one little word can make? Obviously the V.P. Was intending to say something completely different than he did, but that's what makes it just so dumb.
Dan Quayle made some big oopsies, but they weren't as big as the Grand-Poobah President Bush's mistakes. At one point he stated ""For a century and a half now, America and Japan have formed one of the great and enduring alliances of modern times." That is if you forget about that pesky World War II thing.
