Decorating for your Fourth of July party can be extremely expensive but in my family, we prefer to go the budget saving route, which is so much better. It is so much fun getting everyone of different ages in on this, and it helps the children learn a few more things about the Fourth of July holiday.

Red, White, and Blue balloons can be hung all over where you are going to have the Party. These can double for games during the party, which will save your budget!

When the children get bored you could play games with the Red, White, and Blue balloons such as volleyball, toss and well anything you can think of. Little children often get bored at Fourth of July parties, and coming up with inventive games like balloon races and volleyball can save the day for half an hour at least.

You could buy Red, White, and Blue streamers, but it is so much better to allow the children to make the paper chains with those colors of construction paper. These paper chains can be strung up around the Fourth of July party location, or wrapped around trees in the area.

At the Fourth of July party set up a craft table where the kids can make paper flags, grab a few packages of construction paper at your local dollar store along with a package of computer printer paper for the Flag backgrounds. An adult could cut strips of red and blue paper to eliminate the scissors on the table. Add a few tubes of roll on glue, and stickers of stars.

You can help the children wear the stove top hats like Thomas Jefferson wore while telling them about some of the things President Jefferson did. This is the perfect time to celebrate our founding fathers and teach the kids the fun stuff.

Forget the stars and stripes plates and napkins instead buy plain red plates, blue napkins and white cups or plastic silverware. These tend to be cheaper and are much better for the budget conscience family at the annual Fourth of July party.

Make a Red, White, and Blue cake, bake a white cake according to the directions on the box. When it is cool, frost it with cool whip over the entire surface. Add rows of cherries, or strawberries and add the blueberries in the top left hand corner with cool whip stars.
