Relaxing Hobbies for Women: From Blogs to Sewing to Reading

I have had quite a few hobbies in my short lifetime, many of which I still like to visit on occasion, and many of which have been quite relaxing. Sometimes it is nice to take time for yourself at the end of a stressful day, time to enjoy a relaxing hobby. So, what hobbies can you take
up to help you relax at the end of a stressful day? Try some of the suggestions below.

Great Relaxing Hobbies for Women: Cross-stitch
I was taught how to cross-stitch by my mother when I was in middle school and found it very easy to take up. I enjoyed creating little cross-stitch Christmas ornaments, or other fun projects, in the quiet of my room before going to bed, or even while casually watching television.

There are several different kinds of cross-stitch patterns out there, and many of them come in little kits that even include the embroidery thread needed to complete the project. If you think that this relaxing hobby for women is one that you would be interested in taking up, then check out what your local craft store, or even the local fabric store. You should look for a cross-stitch kit that comes complete with everything that you will need. If you aren't sure what kind of kit to get, then ask for help from an employee, they should be able to help you find a great cross-stitch kit for beginners. Another great thing about this relaxing hobby for women is how inexpensive it can be, with many smaller kits being under $10.

Great Relaxing Hobbies for Women: Knit or Crochet
Even though I haven't learned either of these relaxing hobbies for women, I know them to be relaxing because my mother took up crocheting hot pads when she was home sick with cancer, something that she found helped her deal with the stress of her illness.

I love all your tips. I wish to go back to sewing and crocheting one of these days but my bogging and writing is getting in the way :)

Great topic. Women don't seem to do enough for themselves sometimes. I would add playing video games to this list. Reading/writing is my first choice, but getting lost in a video game can be tons of fun.

i really love cross stitching and needlepoint (maybe those are the same things or similar at least?), it always proves to be therapeutic for me. Oh and BTW Ryan Christopher Devault, in answer to your question, I know it may seem feminine but ive heard of a lot of men really getting into the stuff listed in this article. ;)

Livejournal is ace. I've been there since 2000 (when I was still in middle school...boy, I feel old). Wordpress is probably better, though, Livejournal has been making a lot of crappy changes lately...

I love to read, but unfortunately don't have a lot of time to do it, but I sqeeze in a few pages every day. Most of my relaxing is done when I force myself to sit and watch TV with my husband for a couple of hours every night. These are all great suggestions though.
