I have had quite a few hobbies in my short lifetime, many of which I still like to visit on occasion, and many of which have been quite relaxing. I was taught how to cross-stitch by my mother when I was in middle school and found it very easy to take up. I enjoyed creating little cross-stitch Christmas ornaments, or other fun projects, in the quiet of my room before going to bed, or even while casually watching television.
There are several different kinds of cross-stitch patterns out there, and many of them come in little kits that even include the embroidery thread needed to complete the project. Great topic. Women don't seem to do enough for themselves sometimes. I would add playing video games to this list. Reading/writing is my first choice, but getting lost in a video game can be tons of fun.

i really love cross stitching and needlepoint (maybe those are the same things or similar at least?), it always proves to be therapeutic for me. Livejournal is ace. I've been there since 2000 (when I was still in middle school...boy, I feel old). Wordpress is probably better, though, Livejournal has been making a lot of crappy changes lately...
I love to read, but unfortunately don't have a lot of time to do it, but I sqeeze in a few pages every day. Most of my relaxing is done when I force myself to sit and watch TV with my husband for a couple of hours every night. These are all great suggestions though.
