Nothing beats the joy of scoring something of value for free. With the abundance of internet vehicles offering ways to unload unwanted merchandise, the saying "someone else's junk may be another man's treasure," rings true in many cases. Craigslist, the nationwide internet classified site has a "free" section that is updated daily meaning you can check on any day of the week to see what people in your area are giving away. You have to act fast though because the goods are grabbed pretty quickly. Sometimes they show photos of the merchandise and a lot of the items are in good shape. Most people who post are honest about the condition also and list it accordingly. In this section they also have "curb alerts" where a person will let you know that they are putting bulk items on the curb and are free for those who are able to pick it up.

Other websites like www.freecycle.com gives users the opportunity to trade something they don't want for something they do. All you have to do is find something in your house that you don't have a use for anymore. For example, maybe you redecorated recently and you need to get rid of an old sofa. You would post a listing to give away your sofa and in turn look for something you might want.

Many companies use free offers to attract customers to their website but sometimes its not worth the aggravation. I know I'm not the only one who started a survey to be awarded a free gift card and quit halfway through the process because I was bombarded by a slew of free offers that I was recommended to try.
