Baur's Ristorante is located downtown in the Arts District of Denver on 15th and Curtis St. near Denver's Performing Arts and the Denver Convention Center.
What began as a catering business in the late 1800's has become one of the longest operating restaurants in Colorado. Started as a bakery, catering and confection house at 16th and Lawrence by a couple of guys, then moved to the current location by Otto Baur (one of the partners) . A well known ice cream parlor, Baur's in 1918, added a restaurant that was to become a premier destination for business and social lunch gatherings. When Joe Jacobs, Otto's nephew took over the business, he would hand out free ice cream to all the local kids during the Great Depression.

Current owners Jimmy Lambatos and Rachel Schultz have carried the tradition of great food into a new era. With a dining style that is defined as " Casual Elegant", this modern classic is one of the best in Denver.

Mediterranean and Contemporary American Cuisine are served with both lunch and dinner menus exhibiting fantastic choices. They offer casual lunches as well as fine dining, an extensive wine bar, espresso and gourmet desserts. Prices are around $30 and under for lunch and a bit more for dinner, based on per person. Everything on the menu is an excellent value. The popularity of this restaurant would suggest a reservation. That is the best way to assure you have an excellent experience at Baur's Ristorante.

We sat so we could look out the window at the local area of Denver and the people moving around. Both visits, we made advanced reservations to be seated in optimal locations for getting great views. Their website offers reservation service to assist in advanced planning.

We were greated immediately when we arrived and were seated promptly. The menus for both lunch and dinner were well planned and offered many great choices, as well as great value. The Prosciutto wrapped shrimp comes with sauteed arugula and mushroom-mascarpone ragout, and was the most expensive thing on the lunch menu at a very reasonable $14.
