I have tried to weed through the hype and the religious rants to get to the facts, and according to what I understand, there is definitely something happening in the universe. But is it as serious as they say?

It is difficult to accurately forecast the impact it will have on earth at this point in time. It looks to me like the experts are making educated guesses. Many of the writers who seemed to know what they were talking about, admit that it's impossible to know exactly what will happen. However, those who are very learned in this field agree that this alignment of the planets and the sun will definitely have some kind of impact on our planet. How much of an impact remains to be seen.

The first page or two are full of articles by those who seem to be trying to capitalize on this doom's day warning. Each one I clicked into was trying to sell me information or books about the year 2012. I seriously doubted their information and went further, trying to find more reliable sources.
