FCC Okays Bono Saying the F Word on TV. Watch These Clips as Sue Simons, Colin Farrell, Britney Spears and Diane Keating Also Say F--- on TV. Has TV Gone Too Far?

Sue (Susan) Simmons has been an anchor on WNBC in New York City since 1980. She now has something else to add to her resume, saying the F-word on TV. Yep, we are talking about that F-word, the one that rhymes with Puck.

Did the news anchor let the F-word slip while reporting about the rising gas prices? Did she blurt out the F-word in her anger over the never ending war? Did this veteran reported drop the old F-word as she was ranting about John McCain appears to be a
Bush clone? No, Sue Simmons uttered the F-word when someone accidentally aired the wrong footage!

You see, during the 10pm hour, WNBC was airing one of their teasers for their 11:00pm news show which is anchored by Chuck Scarborough and Simmons. In the little promo Simmons was drawing viewers in with their covering of the rising cost of groceries. Trouble is, viewers were watching a passenger go onboard a cruise ship. Noticing this, Simmons angrily says "What the F--- are you doing?" And, as you can tell here it isn't in the kindest tone!

WNBC quickly cut the tape and her outburst was followed by close to eight seconds of silence. Too late, it was all over by then! Of course during her newscast Simons apologized, not for yelling but for using the F-word. Referring to it as "a word that many people find offensive," Simmons went on to add, "It was a mistake I made and I'm truly sorry." Apparently that is enough for WNBC as their spokeswomen Susan Kiel stated this morning that there would be no further comments made beyond Simmons' on air apology.

Note:
This link, and all the links in the following examples go to clips on YouTube. They will include offensive language (the F-word) and therefore should obviously, not be played where children can see or hear them.

Sue Simmons may be the latest but certainly not the only person to be caught saying the F-word on camera!

Personally I 'd prefer not to hear the word at all, but what really bothers me is when someone seems to think that they need to precede every two or three words with it! Seems that is the only bad word that people use this way ....Why is that? This is a good article, very thought provoking. Thank you for bringing it up for comment.+*+*+*PEACE

I worry about what will pop on the TV when I have the younger grandkids over. But older kids mouths and ear, are hearing and saying it over and over.

You did not state where YOU stood on this! My feeling is with 2 teens, is that the f word is no big deal to them. I worry they will casually say it to the point it comes out at a job interview or another time where it shouldn't. I am more concerned that there are times it is okay and times it isn't!

Good article. Sorry I haven't been commenting on articles the last few days. I have been having a horrible time with my fibromyalgia. Hope to get in the swing of things again real soon.
