Nothing brings back reminisces of my childhood quite like chenille bedspreads. The beautiful designs, soft plushy feel and beautiful vintage colors are unmatched by anything I have found manufactured today.

There are wonderfully ordinary craft projects that can become extraordinary when fashioned from chenille bedspreads. They are simple enough for the most novice of crafters to accomplish.

Lampshade-Cover a lampshade for a baby's nursery or a girly-girl room. Make a pattern by rolling the lampshade on paper and tracing around the edges. Add 1/2" to the pattern and cut out. Use the pattern to cut out one piece of chenille. Chenille bedspreads have awesome designs, so pick an area of the bedspread that will give you the most pleasing design for the lampshade. Run a bead of hot glue along the back seam of the lampshade. Attach one end of the chenille piece over the glue. Working slowly, apply more glue along the top and bottom edge of the lampshade while attaching the chenille all the way around the lampshade. End by gluing down the final edge over the back seam. Using the trim from the bedspread (usually fringe or ball trim), glue around the bottom edge of the lampshade to finish.
