Parma Park Attacker Todd Torok Arrested in Brutal Beating of Chevonne Ecclestone

Did Judges Empower Her Attacker?

Chevonne Ecclestone, 52, was walking her poodle, Java, in Parma Park. She was found a couple of hours later, in a creek, ½ a mile from her parked car. Still alive at last report, Chevonne Ecclestone, critical, is in a chemically induce coma. She was bashed repeatedly in the head with a 15 pound rock.

Who would viciously attack this woman? Todd Torok, 39, was arrested for the crime and charged with attempted murder, felonious assault and aggravated robbery. Out of prison less than two weeks, Torok has a 9-page rap sheet. Arrested 36 times in his 39 years, Todd Torak has served time in 8 prisons. Charges include burglary, attempted kidnapping,theft, robbery, possession of cocaine and possession of criminal tools. The obvious questions is, why is he out of prison?

Todd Torak was seen about 9:30 a.m. Saturday walking through West Creek Preserve in Parma. It has been reported that he was telling people he was an undercover cop and he needed a ride. The attacker viciously beat Chevonne Ecclestone about 1:30. He took her bag, wallet and 2003 Pontiac Vibe. It is not clear whether Ecclestone was dumped in the creek or if she crawled there on her own. Java, the poodle, was found near by.

Parma police Capt. Robert DeSimone said it was one of the worst beatings he has seen in his 35 years. While Chevonne Ecclestone fights for her life, family and friends have to wonder how a man like Todd Torok, with the rap sheet he has, could even be walking the streets to commit such a crime. Indeed, all who read this must be wondering the same thing. 36 arrests in 39 years..quite an accomplishment. What were the judges this man stood in front of thinking?

Todd Torok wasn't easily caught. An off duty police officer was reportedly side-swiped by Torok. A car chase was then initiated on Interstate 480 and side roads. It was said that there were 2 unidentified people in the car with Torok. They apparently got out of the car before the chase ended. They are not thought to be involved in the attack on Chevonne Ecclestone.
