When you watch the “As Seen On TV” infomercial for the Swivel Sweeper it’s tempting to buy one. It’s cordless, lightweight, and works on all types of floors. It has a quiet motor and it features four rotating brushes for “unsurpassed cleaning power.” Best of all the head swivels 360 degrees allowing you to easily maneuver around and under furniture. Who wouldn’t want such a handy tool around the house?

I was convinced that I had to have one. Luckily for me, I didn’t have to pay the high shipping and handling charges because my local Home Depot carried the Swivel Sweeper for less than $40.00.

When I took the Swivel Sweeper out of the box I noticed that the gray sliders, which allow you to empty the dirt tray, were broken. Back to Home Depot I went to get a replacement. Home Depot gave me a replacement and I was all set to try out this new gadget.

I was surprised to find that I actually enjoyed using the Swivel Sweeper. It was extremely light - only two pounds - and because of the handle extension I didn’t have to bend over like I do with other cordless vacuums. It seemed to float over our hardwood floors (it doesn’t have wheels - it has sliders) and effortlessly picked up cat fur, crumbs, and dust bunnies. I loved how I didn’t need to move the dining room chairs because the Swivel Sweeper fit so easily underneath them. With the 360 degree swivel head I could go forward, backward, sideways and in circles. With the four side rotating brushes I was able to reach crumbs under the cupboards that my regular vacuum was never able to reach.

I was having so much fun with the Swivel Sweeper that my 10-year-old son begged to try it. He loved it! Every day he asked if he could vacuum. I never thought I’d hear that coming from him!

My two-year-old saw how much fun my son was having and decided she too wanted to try the Swivel Sweeper. The quiet operation of it didn’t scare her like ordinary vacuums do. And it is so light that even a two-year-old can handle it with ease.

I, too loved this thing. It is a really good quick picker-upper. However, I have the same problem. It worked great for a couple of months. Now it seems to do OK on the bare floor, but on carpet, it dies even though I just charged the battery. I don't know that it's the battery, because I can start it again and it sounds strong, but then just quits. I'm stumped.

Like most of you, I loved this item out of the box. That was about 3-4 months ago. Yes, the battery is now giving me problems. I wish it would run for 4 minutes. It starts up, then as soon as it hits the floor, it goes for literally 5 SECONDS then totally dies on me. And this after a full charge. I wish I read some reviews before I bought this item. I'm surprised my brother isn't linching me right now. He bought one on my recommendation.

I've had two swivel sweepers for about 3 months now. (buy one get one free) At first it worked great and could sweep my whole house. After a while the battery would only hold a charge for about 2-4 minutes. Today, after sweeping the kitchen, my swivel sweeper made an awful smell and I noticed smoke coming from the battery. The battery had melted and it was smoking. I ran it out of the house and took pliers to remove the battery box from the sweeper. It is ruined and I'm scared now to use the other. I think I'm going to have to throw them both out for fear of a house fire. Has this happened to anyone else? Leatanya Koppa

This is the best item for using on flooring, it won't clean(deeply) on carpet. Mostly I uses it on kitchen and lawn. It's of good quality even the battery works long if charge 4-6hours(continuous). I use to charge the batter once in a week and use mostly for 4-5 hours/day. I purchase this item from www.shoppershalt.com for free shipping. Good item of best price. Thank you !

...."The battery lasted about 3 months. Now it will run about 4 minutes when charged at a very slow speed. I checked out buying a new battery and found out its just about as much as buying a new sweeper. ...." Yes...unfortunately, the battery DOES run out after a few months.... I LOVE my sweeper too and use it everyday. I have 3 dogs and it is so convenient to use instead of lugging out my big vaccum. BUT...after having it a few months and using it daily, I, too, notice that the battery gave out. Too bad....such a good product.....I wish itcould have the the option of using an electrical cord or battery.....this would resolve the problem.

I'm so glad to read about the swivel sweeper. I was one that didn't have a person to place my order and I can't find the phone no. to call and cancel my order that I believe to 19.99 plus shipping. I bank shows that I was paying $75.95 for the one item. Wait until I find the phone no. to giving them a piece of my thinking. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved the Swivel Sweeper when I first got it. It did everything it was claimed to do. Now it just sits in the closet. They had a really great product until it came to the battery. I dont understand why you would design a great product and cut corners on its power supply. I wish I could plug it in. Its kind of hard to clean when it comes to pet hair but was still worth it when it worked. The battery lasted about 3 months. Now it will run about 4 minutes when charged at a very slow speed. I checked out buying a new battery and found out its just about as much as buying a new sweeper.

I couldn't agree more with this review. Great review, may cats would rebel against the vacuum cleaner by urinating outside the box after I annoyed them with it. Thats a whole other article.

Thanks for the review. I just put mine together. It was a gift from my father-in-law, so I didn't say no. However, I probably wouldn't have bought one on my own as I am always weary of products similar to these. Oh well, if it lasts for a few months then great. I'll enjoy it while I can. Thanks.

I love my swivel sweepers! I have on in the kitchen and one in my bedroom. It is light and easy to use. When it "freezes", it is usually due to something caught on the brushes (usually the very corner of them). I love them.

I bought one of these at Target and took it back 2 days later. I found that it only picked up certain things, left a lot of pet hair, and was hard to clean out. I was not at all impressed with how it worked or how it was made.

I have MS and the swivel sweeper was a lifesaver to me until this past year. The last three I have bought have broken down the same way. They freeze up while vacuuming and won't go, It's not because itt'd dirty cuz I clean it all the time. I think these are selling so well that the manufacturers are maybe slacking a bit. If I'm gonna pay money for these things I need them to work! The one that broke down today is less then a month old!
