Tonight on Spike TV at 11:00 the new show "1000 Ways to Die" will premiere amid a storm rush of hoopla and controversy. "1000 Ways to Die" seems to be stirring up a good bit of Internet buzz due obviously to the material and the way it is being presented. One of the reasons that it has been so controversial is because of the way "1000 Ways to Die" is packaged as exploitation television.

"1000 Ways to Die" is a show about what the real effects on the body are when one is killed in a variety of gruesome and variable ways. Some of the ways to die featured on this new Spike TV television show will be a lesbian electrocution, a mechanic cut in half by a semi truck, and even the effects of a deadly rattlesnake encounter. "1000 Ways to Die" will feature forensic scientists, as well as other experts to relate what the science of dying would be like for each of these horrific deaths.

Spike TV has always been a channel to push the envelope so "1000 Ways to Die" is nothing new. While controversial, the show will rise or fall largely on how they handle the delivery of this sordid subject matter. If history is any indication, Spike TV will push the envelope.

"1000 Ways to Die" could be a huge hit among the morbid crowd. If they make the show interesting and scientific rather than exploitative drivel, it could be a sleeper hit. When your feature commercial for a show is labeled as "Lesbocution" however, you should not expect to be taken seriously. "1000 Ways to Die" seems destined to go down the road of exploitation television. This will certainly be well received among that crowd, but it is sure to draw the ire of virtually every censor on the market.

Takeaways
  • Spike TV has been known to push the envelope.
  • Will "1000 Ways to Die" be a "CSI" type clone or pure exploitation?
  • Watch the censors go crazy if the show is as gory as it appears.

Lmao... people saying "You people who are boycotting are weenies. If you don't like it then don't watch." You do know what boycotting means right, not watching it.

i think it's interesting and you learn a lot on how human body works, example, the one who got bitten by black widow spiders. if people couldn't take it because it's too disgust or don't like it, then simply just don't watch it. who force you to watch something you want like? but other people may be interested...

I think human nature is fascinated by death, because it is something we all have to do someday. I think has gone too far on television. I understand it but don't usually watch it. Great article.
