Nothing takes the weight of a day of work off like a night of video games. Lately, I've been getting into the Playstation 3, especially with winner games like Assassin's Creed and Dark Sector. Sometimes I feel that if it was not for sleep, I would play these games all night long. The only problem is the charge on my wireless controllers do not last all night. Fortunately, Nyko has me covered with the Charge Base 2. It comes in a box that is near impossible to open, but it works out of the box.
You have to attach some USB charge adapters to the controllers. These are tiny plastic dongles that plug right into the controllers, and they make it so you can set it on the charger cradle. A red light indicates the charge, then the green light indicates a full charge. It even blinks to show that it is almost charged. You can't get any simpler than that.
It only takes a short time to charge, so I can play video games, and once one controller has worn out, I can change it out for another.
Speaking of controllers, I also had the chance to try out the Zero Wireless, a completely wireless controller with a new ergonomic design. There is a full six-direciton tilt functionality, as well as some shaker vibration. It can play well for up to 25 hours without charging, or it can be used with the included AA battery pack. Nyko boasts that this is the first controller to feature LED back-lit action buttons, heat dissipating aluminum panels and a hybrid metal-resin design.
I found that I preferred its shape to playing than the traditional controller. I found the first use was simple as a user inserts the USB key.
Of course, I found that even video games can get a little tedious, especially when I get stuck in them. Sometimes I prefer a less active form of entertainment and would prefer just to put in some Blu-Ray movie in just vegetate.
Nyko also has me covered with the Blu-Wave infrared remote. Like the Zero PS3, all it requires is plugging in the USB key, and the remote is ready to use. Considering that the HD DVD and Blu Ray war is finally over, I have a hunch I'll be watching more Blu-Rays on the PS3.
Yes sir, it is definitely a good day.
