Osceola County is the home of Kissimmee and St. Cloud, an area only eighteen miles from downtown Orlando that serves as an important crossroads in Central Florida. While Central Florida is famous for its various world-class theme parks, dining and resorts, there is even more to the area than meets to eye. Once you have ridden Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom and witnessed Jaws jump out of the water at Universal Studios, be sure to tour the Kissimmee-St. Cloud area to see what it has to offer. The following places in the Kissimmee-St. Cloud area are worth paying a visit on your next trip to Central Florida.

Reptile World Serpentarium is a working research facility that houses more than six hundred snakes, and keeps more than fifty of them on display. Located less than ten miles east of the Florida Turnpike (Exit 244) at 5705 East Irlo Bronson Highway in St. Cloud, you will find snakes from around the world, including some of the most exotic and deadly. From the tremendous anaconda to an eighteen foot king cobra, you are sure to leave the Reptile World Serpentarium having had your fill of snakes. The experience is both satisfying and educational. If you are not too squeamish, you can even witness your hosts milking venom during scheduled shows at noon and three p.m. Admission prices are incredibly reasonable at approximately $6.00 per person and even less for children and students.

If you are interested in the rich and fascinating history of St. Cloud, pay a visit to the Historical Museum of St. Cloud & Osceola County, Florida. Located at 1200 New York Avenue, the museum is housed at the St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce Building and is open from nine a.m. to four p.m., Monday through Friday. Here you will find artifacts, photographs, video presentations, and original accounts that provide the story of St. Cloud, from its early days as a top U.S. sugar-producing region to its exciting range-riding “Kowboy” days to the founding of St. Cloud City by a group of Civil War Veterans.
