May 14's American Idol show was the determining show that would name who the two Idols would be to compete in the finals next week.

Most American Idol fans had picked the final two several weeks ago. However, Syesha Mercado who was this year's underdog started to emerge in the final weeks as not only a very capable vocalist, but a beautiful and dare I say sexy force to be reckoned with.

Although the majority of Syesha's performances were solid through out the season she actually ended up in the bottom 3 a few times. Many people counted her out on several occasions but still she managed to make it through every week, and held on tight all the way to the semi finals.

Syesha was often criticized for taking on songs that were made popular by some of the biggest power voices in the music industry. This is something the judges warn contestants against, because contestants will end up suffering by being compared to these top industry singers. Syesha was most criticized for singing "I Believe" which was the song created for the winner of American Idols season 3. The winner that year was Fantasia Barrino who performed the song with a great deal of power and emotion behind the words. Although Syesha sung the song well, she was criticized by both her song choice and for the fact that she did not perform the song with the passion that Fantasia had. For further details on that performance feel free to read: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/704557/syesha_mercado_suffers_by_passion_comparison.html

During Dolly Parton week Syesha once again took a risk by singing "I Will Always Love you." A song sung by both Dolly Parton and made very famous by Whitney Houston, through the movie the Body Guard. The song had also been sung in The Best Little Whore House in Texas by, Parton. Syesha sang the song in the style of Whitney Houston. She pulled it off but once again took the risk of being compared to one of the most powerful singers of all time.

I liked Syesha and the girl with the tatoos that we call spider woman. They both had magnificient voices. I think that Syesha should have sung something by Tina Turner instead of Fever (Although I liked the song) and that she got a dorky song from the producers. I don't doubt that she will have a contract somewhere.

I liked Shyeesha too, but no fear, even though she didn't make it all the way, she will still make it! Just watch and see.. :-)

Well done. My tea leafs told me that the two Davids were meant to compete in the finals several weeks ago. I will not be so bold as to predict who will win.

I believe that she still has a career in singing and wouldn't be surprised if she gets picked up

Syesha has a beautiful voice and she herself is beautiful. I look forward to seeing more of Syesha - especially on Broadway or on the big screen. She has that acting touch too.

Pretty good article. A few grammatical mistakes here and then, but sometimes it's easy to miss them. As for Syesha Mercado, she will definitely do something after this season has wrapped up. She is very talented, and she can sing very well. Although her voice is similar to many main-stream singers these days. I definitely agree with you on the 'Broadway' deal, she can definitely be a super-star in that field, but I also think we will hear a few hits from her on the radio, and if they do really well than she will continue on the route, but she will definitely DO something, it's just to early to tell right now.
