Mariah Carey Breaks Mark Sudack's Heart: Better that it Happened Quickly
Taking the Good from the Experience and Moving On
News of Mariah Carey's recent marriage to Nick Cannon left ex-boyfriend Mark Sudack "shattered." Music producer Mark Sudack had secretly dated Mariah Carey for nearly four years. After ending their relationship,Mariah Carey Breaks Mark Sudack's Heart: Better that it Happened Quickly
Mariah Carey breaks Mark Sudack's Heart: I have been in Mark Sudack's shoes
About a year ago, I was in a failed relationship that ended when his parents whisked him away in an arranged marriage. He was charming, handsome, and brilliant. There was no official moment where he became my boyfriend. It was something that gradually grew out of friendship. He began acting like my boyfriend and I had gotten used to it. We were intellectually and emotionally compatible in many ways, and as for the differences, they provided valuable learning experiences for both of us. I taught him about classical music, pop music, and American politics. He taught me about Hinduism, India, and Bollywood cinema. Although he came from another culture, he had attended school in America. He was culturally assimilated enough for us to share a common ground, or so I thought.
Mariah Carey breaks Mark Sudack's Heart: The Warning Signs
I began to see the warning signs when I realized how secretive he was with his family. For example, if he had one glass of wine with dinner, he would frantically hide the bottle before his relatives came to visit. He explained that his parents would disown him if they ever found caught him with alcohol. As for our relationship, I was under the impression that his parents knew and that they accepted it. I had never had a problem with anyone's parents in the past, so there was no reason to think they would object. However, when his parents found out, the consequences were disastrous.
