I can think of no better way to encourage your graduate, college or high school, with verses from the Bible filled with promises. God loves each of them so dearly and longs to have a personal relationship. Your inclusion of Bible verses may encourage this generation to look to God for their answers, return to Him if they have strayed away, or seek Him out if they don't know much about Him.

I have to begin with the verse that declares God's destiny for those who believe in Christ. This is the verse we included on the back of our son's graduation reception announcement.

I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a hope and a future. ~Jeremiah 29:11

There is another verse of comfort and hope for those who put their trust in God. The entire 91st Psalm is appropriate, but the first two verses are appropriate for a card or letter.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most high will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!" ~Psalm 91:1-2

Another Psalm takes us right to the heart of successful living in the will of God. It serves as an admonition and a challenge for any graduate.

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. ~Psalm 1:1-3

A prescription for a joyful life was written by Paul in the New Testament book of Philippians. Philippians 4 offers specific direction for the good life, and a way to live in peace amid the turmoil of the times in which we live.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!

Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

I really like this one: "Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near." and the last one. I hope that these words do inspire recent grads and everyone else hearing them, as well. Thanks for the "lift" in my day!

These are so inspiring, Lenora. I just graduated from the last chapter of my life, so I will use these for the next chapter - I just don't know what that is yet. LOL.
