A blue bird is a great way to celebrate spring or any day, you need a large piece of white paper and smaller pieces of blue, black, and yellow construction paper.
Preschool paper place mat step #1
Cut the blue bird body, which is a blue oblong shape, one little blue circle for the head and of course two small circles for the eyes of the bluebird.
Preschool paper place mat step #2
Have the preschooler lay the blue bird body on a large sheet of white construction paper; position is not important as long as they are fine with it and you have room to add the head. Allow the preschooler to use a stick of glue across the blue bird body and turn it over and lay it on the white paper.
Preschool paper place mat step #3
Pick up the headpiece, hand it to your child, and allow them to glue it and stick it on in its landing place, do the same with the eyes. Allow them to color in the feather on the blue bird when it is dry.
Preschool paper place mat step #4
Allow your preschooler to add flower stickers and be sure to write his or her name on this white paper. Your preschooler can color flowers or other bugs on to this paper to make it truly unique and your child could add in a photograph of the child or a favorite pet.
Preschool paper place mat step #5
Cut a piece of the clear contact paper and lay it flat on a table sticky side up and lay the blue bird paper on it upside down and smooth these two together. Cut another piece of clear contact and use it on the back so that your place mat becomes waterproof.
Now, with the addition of the clear contact paper covering it is easy to wipe clean after, your preschooler eats his or her dinner. Imagine the look upon the face of your preschooler when you serve his or her favorite meal on their personalized place mat instead of the usual one.
