Are you trying to find or do something very different for your graduate, but not sure what to do? Does he/she have everything already, so it's making it very hard for you to choose that one special gift? Well why not give something special from your heart, which will have more sentiments, memories last forever, and will definitely be something totally unique besides the same old gifts like money, flowers, or gift cards.

1. Do you have a scrap book of all your graduates pictures since infant? If you answered yes your in luck. You may make a wonderful collage of your child's life up to the graduation day. Gather pictures of all different parts of their life like when they were born, 1st birthday, toddler years, playing with friends, 8th grade graduation etc. Then after you have the collage all thought out place a very nice frame around it, date of graduation and their name on it. You may also place a special message or poem either something from your heart or look up poems on-line.

2. Do you have a video recorder? Can you maybe borrow or rent one? If that is possible then you may secretly go around and try to interview all of your child's friends, family, teachers, boyfriend/girlfriend, or anyone that your child has a close connection with. Let each person say something about the graduate. Your child will enjoy this since it has all of the important people in his/her life.

3. Do you have a star map? Can you buy one somewhere where you live? What a neat idea this is. On the night of their graduation you can look up at all the beautiful stars in the sky, and start renaming all the constellation. How cool and different would that be? This will allow you to have that special bonding time with your child, won't cost you a dime, and the look on their face will be priceless. This can be so much fun depending how creative you are. Just hope though the day of their graduation the sky is nice and clear to do this.

I would add to this list, although it is not personalized, a lock box/small fire safe for any college bound graduate. They can keep things like extra money, credit cards, car keys..........basically anything you don't want roommates or nosy wanderers to find or take.

If only I knew about some of these ideas when I was dating my Harvard graduate. Well, he did break up with me shortly thereafter, but I looked foolish without a gift for him!

lovely ideas! Last year, I got one of those frames that everyone can autograph. My youngest daughter snuck around and got all of my oldest daughter's friends to sign the frame. I found this picture that someone from yearbook staff had taken of Kristen and the group of girls that she ran with all the time acting silly in the hallway. They were laughing and it was just a sweet pic. I put that in the frame, and we wrapped it and gave it to her at graduation. Now it is proudly displayed center wall in her room.

More, Pattie, more! I *STINK* at choosing gifts - I try so hard, like at Christmas - and yet, there I am at midnight late 24th/ early 25th, at Walmart, trying to justify to myself that a bag of Cheetohs with a red bow counts as a gift! ;)
